Eastern Mennonite University announced Oct. 6 that it has selected two first-year students as its 2026 Yoder/Webb Scholars, according to the university. The full-tuition award is EMU’s highest academic scholarship, the announcement said.
EMU said recipients are selected based on academic performance, community and extracurricular involvement, creativity, clarity of thought and leadership potential. The university did not provide application or award-ceremony dates in its announcement.
According to EMU, the Yoder Scholars program was founded with an endowment gift from Carol and Paul R. Yoder Jr., both members of the class of 1963. The Webb Scholars program honors Ada Webb, among the university’s first African American students, and Margaret “Peggy” Webb, who graduated in 1954 as the university’s first African American graduate.
