James Madison University recognized two staff members as JMU Game Changers during the second quarter of Saturday’s football game against Marshall University, according to a JMU News announcement published Oct. 5.
Joey Powers, an instructor and instrument supervisor in the Department of Biology, was nominated by College of Science and Mathematics Dean Samantha Prins for supporting research, instruction and department operations, the university said. Powers also trains and mentors students conducting research in the biology building, according to JMU.
Megan Holland, an academic advisor for engineering in the College of Integrated Science and Engineering, was nominated by Dean Grady Dixon for her commitment to student success and her work building relationships across the college, the announcement said. Dixon also credited Holland with using enrollment and advising data to help the engineering department identify issues early and respond, according to JMU.
The Game Changer program recognizes faculty and staff contributions to students, colleagues and the university community, JMU said. JMU Athletics recognizes honorees at home football games throughout the season, and the program is presented by Good Wealth Management, according to the announcement.
