Hundreds of James Madison University students marked the midpoint of the fall semester Tuesday evening at the university’s annual Halftime on the Quad gathering, according to a JMU announcement published Oct. 23. The event took place on the Quad in Harrisonburg, the announcement said.

JMU said students, faculty and staff gathered for music, performances, food and an opportunity to connect. Performers and guests included the Marching Royal Dukes Spirit Team, the JMU cheerleading team, student music and dance groups, and Duke Dog, according to the university.

The university said food available at the gathering included hot dogs, chips and cookies, along with treats from Scotty’s Italian Ice and Strite’s Donuts. The announcement did not provide an event start time, admission cost or contact information for the gathering.

JMU President Jim Schmidt thanked students who helped organize the event and urged attendees to recognize their accomplishments so far this semester, according to the announcement. He also encouraged students to seek support from friends and professors if they encounter challenges in the second half of the semester.
