James Madison University recognized Alyssa Bosley and Liz Thompson as “Game Changers” during the Dukes’ home football game against Troy University on Oct. 29, the university said in an announcement published Oct. 30.

JMU said the award honors faculty for work benefiting the university and JMU Athletics, and that the program recognizes honorees at home football games throughout the season. Good Wealth Management presents the program, according to the announcement.

Bosley, a senior lecturer and sport and recreation management program director in JMU’s Hart School of Hospitality, Sport & Recreation Management, was nominated by College of Business Dean Michael Busing for her work in student mentorship, engagement and experiential learning, JMU said. The university said she mentors students through internships, learning trips, career exploration, leadership development and professional networking, and previously served as JMU’s director of athletics marketing.

Thompson, JMU’s open education librarian, was recognized for leading the Libraries’ open education efforts, the university said. Dean of Libraries Bethany Nowviskie nominated Thompson, citing her work with faculty to find or create accessible course materials and help make textbooks more affordable or free, according to JMU.
